Ipomoea lanifolia sp. nov. (Convolvulaceae), a new species endemic to the Ibiapaba plateau in northeastern Brazil

Abstract A new species of Ipomoea, thus far endemic to Caatinga domain, is described. The occurs in a “carrasco” physiognomy - shrubby vegetation on sandy soils characterized by the presence cacti and bromeliads. can be recognized combination morphological characters, including leaf blade with lanate abaxial surface long hairs, sepals lanceolate, acuminate, tomentose, smooth. complete description, diagnosis, an identification key for Ipomoea from Ibiapaba plateau, illustrations, conservation assessments, distribution map, taxonomic comments are provided.
